This editon is the first of two covering the acquisition by Southdown of the Brighton Hove & District fleet on 1 January 1969 folowing the commencement of operations by the National Bus Company. Each batch of vehicles is listed separately with a brief description, following which their history with Southdown is explained. This booklet deals with the oldest vehicles numbered from 426 to 500 and 1 to 40.

There are three colour covers on the cover and also a four page centre section with with eight photographs within a total of 56 pages including covers.
