Fleet List 2024

Published July 2024 : Our annual Fleet List Book contains details of the Stagecoach South and South East Fleets; Brighton & Hove, Metrobus and First Hampshire and Dorset including fleet numbers, liveries, registration numbers, chassis and body numbers, delivery dates and allocations.

Southdown Survivors - Autumn 2021

This updated book contains details of the vehicles operated by Southdown Motor Services Ltd up to April 1992 that are believed still to survive, showing their current status and details of any modifications to the vehicles and an indication of where many of them are to be found. It includes 26 pictures of the vehicles listed.

Sussex Independents 2024

Working Together - A detailed look at the Heathfield Pool Services 1957-1971

The complicated Heathfield Pool Services involved Southdown and Maidstone & District working six services jointly from seven (later eight) garages. Details of the introduction, working and eventual decline of the scheme are included together with previous and subsequent histories of the services involved, as are vehicle workings and timetables from May 1966 when one-person working was introduced by both companies. The book has glossy full-colour card covers and has 92 pages. Fleet and Routes 1969

Published July 2023: Southdown Fleet and Routes 1969 shows the fleet at 1 January 1969, including the vehicles transferred from Brighton Hove & District on that day, together with the bus and express services operated at that time and operational notes, details of the service fleet, the garages in use and much more. The booklet has four full pages of colour photographs, five other black and white and three colour photographs depicting some of the batches of vehicles, and a colour cover. It is a useful companion to our Fleet History series. Southdown Fleet History

Part 37 of our detailed Fleet History entitled ‘Daimlers Return’, in the usual A5 format, is now available. This booklet deals with the other vehicles taken into the fleet in 1970. The colour cover has one colour photograph on the front and two on the rear and there is a four-page centre section with eight black & white photographs within a total of 64 pages (including covers).
